GURGAON: The Rapid Metro authorities have claimed that the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has accepted their application to conduct the mandatory inspection before the line can be opened for public use. They said a series of meeting between the CMRS office and the Rapid Metro are underway. The Rapid Metro is expecting his visit any day.
Meanwhile, the authorities are conducting trial runs from 6am to 12 midnight everyday and appear to be satisfied with the trial runs. In early August, the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) team from Lucknow had given their approval for the high oscillation trial and had submitted their report to the CMRS.
Meanwhile, senior officials from the Hooda government jumped the gun and announced that the commercial operations will begin from October 2, even though the CMRS was yet to inspect the line. The Rapid Metro authorities were forced to do some quick damage control and therefore, are now unwilling to comment on when the operations will eventually begin.
"From our side, we are fully prepared. We are waiting for the CMRS to visit and inspect the line. We are not sure when the inspection will take place and therefore, we are not in a position to comment by when the commercial run will start. All we can say is that we are all set to launch the moment we receive the CMRS go-ahead," said a Rapid Metro spokesperson.
However, according to a source, before the CMRS actually comes to the site and inspects the line, he might ask his deputies to inspect it and submit a report.
The network has already missed many deadlines. It was supposed to open in March. Even now, whenever it opens, only five out of the six metro stations will be operational as one of them is still under construction.
