Train operated from first platform

Kanniyakumari (CAPE): The Kanyakumari-Chennai Egmore Superfast Express (Train No.12634) was operated from platform number 1 from Sunday onwards.

According to official sources, the train leaves Kanyakumari by 5.20 p.m., reaches Nagercoil junction at 5.35 p.m. and leaves at 5.40 p.m. to Chennai.

Earlier the train used to be operated from the first platform, but for about a year, the railway authorities were operating the train from the third platform. As it was very difficult for the aged passengers and women to climb the stairs of the foot-over-bridge and reach the third platform along with their luggage, various train passenger associations wanted the railway authorities to operate the train from first platform. But the railway authorities said that there was a technical problem.

Meanwhile, all of a sudden on Sunday, the train was again operated from the first platform.

Earlier, passenger associations had submitted petitions to the elected representatives demanding that the train be operated from the first platform and in this regard some associations had staged demonstrationa.
