The city traffic police have announced traffic regulations in the city to facilitate Pachalam railway overbridge work.
As per the new regulations, which came into effect on Monday, private buses plying on the Chittoor Road to Vaduthala via Mathai Manjooran Road and Lourdes Hospital will have to take left from Pachalam Junction, reach Chathiath Church Junction and take right to Pazhampilli Thomas Road and Vaduthala Gate.
All the vehicles except private buses going through the opposite direction have to take deviation from Peter Korea Road to reach TKC Road, Kalpaka Road, Don Bosco Road and Chittoor area.
Vehicles going from Vaduthala to Ernakulam area will have to deviate from Vaduthala Railway Gate to take the Lourdes Hospital Road and reach Pachalam Junction. From there, the vehicles need to turn left and reach Chittoor Road and Mathai Manjooran Road.
Along with the new regulations, the authorities have also enforced a ban on two-way traffic along some of the roads in the Pachalam region to avoid hold-ups.
Traffic will be allowed along the Lourdes Hospital Road only from North to South while vehicles will be permitted to move only from South to North on the Peter Korea Road, Pazhampilli Thomas Road and Chathiath Church Junction.
Besides, no vehicles will be allowed to enter Lourdes Hospital Road from Samajam Road and from Jesus Road to Peter Korea Road.
Lorries and other goods vehicles have been barred from taking any of these roads between 8 am and 8.30 pm.
Parking of vehicles along these roads have been banned.
