Shri D.V.Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Minister for Railways will visit the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Training Centre, Moula Ali, Hyderabad o­n 19th September, 2014.
The Hon’ble Minister will review the Passing Out Parade of 421 Sub-Inspector Cadets, who will be commissioned into Railway Protection Force (RPF) o­n the occasion and will also address them. The Sub-Inspectors are being inducted after undergoing a rigorous training of nine months at the RPF Training Centres, at Hyderabad and Lucknow.
Shri P.K. Srivastava, General Manager, SCR; Shri Krishna Chowdary, Director General, RPF; Shri S.C.Parhi, Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, SCR and other senior officials and dignitaries will be present o­n this occasion.

A “Safety Seminar” was held at Zonal Railway Training Institute, Moula Ali, Hyderabad, under the aegis ofSafety Directorate of Railway Board today (18thSep. 2014). The Seminar was chaired by Shri Sanjiv Garg, Advisor Safety, Railway Board, New Delhi. A high level team of Safety Officers from Railway Board, Chief Safety Officers and Senior Divisional Safety Officers from all Divisions of four Zonal Railways viz, South Central Railway, Southern Railway, South Western Railway and West Central Railway, participated in the deliberations.Loco Pilots, Asst. Loco Pilots, Guards, Station Managers, Asst. Station Managers, Loco Inspectors, Safety Counsellers etc attended the seminar in large number.
In his Key note address, Shri Sanjiv Garg, Advisor Safety, Railway Board, called upon the railway men to be better citizens of the Country by contributing towards accident free working of the Indian Railways. He informed that Safety Directorate of Railway Board is organizing Safety Seminars at various places in the country to interact with grass root level railway staff who are engaged in train operations, to find out their problems in implementing the safety related orders issued byRailway Board and also to inculcate a work culture built o­n high level of safety consciousness. Seminars, such as this, will provide a platform to learn from each other’s experiences, he added. Further, he said that violation of safety rules will cause accidents leading to loss of life, damage to railway property and slowing down of train operations. He appealed to the participants to boost the dynamism and image of the railways with accident free rail operations by their team work. 

Smt. Vijaya Laxmi Koushik, Excecutive Director (Safety-I) Railway Board, Shri Om Prakash, Executive Director (Safety-II), Railway Board, Shri S.P. Sahu, Chief Safety Officer, South Central Railway also spoke at the inaugural session of the seminar. They expressed confidence that the outcome of the seminar will help identify the areas where system improvements are necessary to boost train safety. 

In the deliberations, Railway Board Safety officials, Safety Officers from various Railway Zones presented their seminar papers through Power Point Presentation. The case studies presented in the Power Point Presentations narrated how violation of safety rules lead to train accidents. The case studies narrated how to avoid accidents due to train passing signal at red, accident at Level Crossings, accident at cross over points & crossing, train collision, fire accident in passenger coach / wagon , accident due to non protection of a train at stabling line etc.

Earlier, Shri Sanjiv Garg released the Bi-monthly Safety Bulletin, July-August 2014 issue, brought our by South Central Railway. Executive Directors (safety) released safety posters. Shri Sanjiv Garg also gave away the Man of the Month Award for the months March / April / May 2014 to 63 employees of South Central Railway in appreciation of their diligent work in avoiding untoward incidents in train operations. The awardees include Loco Pilots, Asst. Loco Pilots, Station Managers, Asst. Station Managers, Guards, Gate men, Points Men etc. for detecting hot axle, brake binding, failure of roller bearing, flat tyres, flame in axle box, water flowing over track and other unsafe working conditions.

SCR to run Special Train from Kakinada Town to Lingampalli Via Bhimavaram Town & Guntur

In order to clear extra rush of passengers,South Central Railway will run o­ne special train from Kakinada Town to Lingampalli via Bhimavaram Town and Guntur as per the following schedule.
Train No.07102 Kakinada Town - Lingampalli Special train will depart Kakinada Town at 04:00 pm o­n 21st September, 2014 (Sunday) and arrive / depart Secunderabad at 04:30 am / 04:40 am  and arrive Lingampalli at 05:10 am o­n the next day.
Enroute, the special train will stop at Samalkot, Anaparthi, Rajahmundry, Nidadavolu, Tanuku, Bhimavaram Town, Akividu, Kaikaluru, Gudivada, Vijayawada, Guntur, Sattenapalli, Pidugurala, Nadikudi, Miryalaguda and Nalgonda stations.
This train will consist of 16 coaches viz., ten Sleeper Class, four General Second Class, and two Second Class Luggage Cum Brake van Coaches.

Sukhmangalam Yatra Special Tourist Train to Bijapur, Solapur, Pandharpur, Aurangabad, Shirdi, Badami and Hampi

As per the Ministry of Railways guidelines in line with the Railway Budget announcement, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has announced a tourist train from Bangalore to Maharashtra between 25thOctober and 3rd November 2014. Called Sukhamangalam Yatra, the train will cover religious and tourist towns around Bangalore and southern Maharashtra i.e.­ Badami, Bijapur, Solapur, Pandharpur, Aurangabad and Shirdi. The train will stop at Guntakal o­n 25.10.2014 at 06:00 pm to enable passengers board the train.
Tourists can visit the historical sites of Gol Gumbaz and Gagan Mahal in Bijapur; temples at Akalkot, Tulja Bhawani in Solapur, Vitthal Rukmani temple at Pandharpur, a two-day excursion to Ajanta and Ellora caves, and the rock cut temples at Badami.
The train will commence its journey o­n 25thOctober 2014 from Bangalore and return to the city o­n 2nd November 2014. The tour package comprises of 9 nights and 10 days. It will be routed through Guntakal and Gadag so that pilgrims have the option to join the tour from there.
A Standard (budget) tour package for Sukhamangalam Yatra costs Rs 8,190. As part of Comfort package, tourists can travel in 3-tier AC coaches at the cost of Rs.17, 730 and Deluxe class package will provide the tourists, travel in AC 2-tier at the cost of Rs.23, 850. The price includes service tax, boarding, meal, road transfers, sightseeing and guide fee.

“Safety Can Not Take Second Place” -- Shri D.P.Pande, Member Traffic, Railway Board, at Regional Safety Review Meet Held at Secunderabad

A high-level regional safety review meeting has been conducted by Railway Board at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, today i.e. 17th September, 2014. Shri D.P.Pande, Member / Traffic, Railway Board, New Delhi chaired the meeting and reviewed in detail the safety performance of 4 Zonal Railways – South Central Railway (SCR), Southern Railway (SR), South Western Railway (SWR) and West Central Railways (WCR). 

In his key note address, Shri Pande stressed upon the utmost importance of safety in train operations. He stated that safety can not take second place and that Railway staff shall always accord top most priority for safe running of trains. Expressing concern over the rise in number of accidents at level crossings o­n Indian Railways, the Member / Traffic directed that the field staff shall quickly implement various identified solutions such as posting gatemen, providing additional warning boards/whistling boards etc. to avoid any scope for accidents at level crossings. 

He called upon all the senior safety officials present at the meeting to intensity field inspections of stations and other work units related to safety and also to take necessary advance corrective action to preempt any possible mishap. He emphasized o­n ensuring that the Railway assets like wagons, coaches, track and signaling gears etc. function all right, which will go a long way in eliminating any chance of derailments. He also directed the safety organization to conduct frequent safety audits and take immediate follow-up action to rectify the deficiencies noticed. 

Shri Sanjeev Garg, Adviser / Safety, Railway Board, New Delhi in his address informed that this high level regional safety review meeting is fourth in a series of such reviews being undertaken by Railway Board which were conducted at Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata earlier. He underscored the need for imbibing safety as an integral part of Railway work culture to prevent any untoward incidents. Safety in train operations is a critical pre-requisite for expanding Services and growth of Railways, he cautioned. 

Shri S.K.Agarwal, Addl. General Manager, Shri J.N.Jha, Chief Operations Manager and Shri S.P.Sahu, Chief Safety Officer of SCR also spoke o­n the occasion. A high level team of Safety Officers from Railway Board, Chief Safety Officers and Senior Divisional Safety Officers from all Divisions of the 4 Zonal Railways – SCR, SR, SWR and WCR participated in the meet and deliberated o­n effective strategies and action plan to strengthen Railway Safety.

7600 Additional Berths/Seats by Attaching Additional Coaches

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, South Central Railway will temporarily augment the following Trains with additional AC II Tier/AC III Tier/AC Chair Car coaches from 16th September, 2014 to 1st October, 2014.
These additional coaches will generate a total of 7600 berths/seats i.e., 1380 in II AC, 1920 III AC & 4320 in AC Chair Car Coaches. The details are given below:-

Due to upgradation work of Delhi P.R.S. (Computerized Passenger Reservation System), the PRS Enquiry will remain closed for 4 hours from 11.30 p.m. of 21.09.2014 to 03.30 a.m. o­n 22.09.2014. Therefore, PRS related enquiry of Delhi PRS through IVRS/Touch Screen, Call Centre (Telephone no. 139) and functioning of current reservation bookings through computer will also remain closed during the period.

The 04912Chandigarh- Varanasi Weekly Express special train will depart from Chandigarh o­n every Thursday from 25.09.14 to 27.11.14 (10 trips) at 11.15 p.m. to reach Varanasi at 05.30 p.m. the next day. In the return direction, 04911 Varanasi- Chandigarh Weekly special train will depart from Varanasi o­n every Friday from 26.09.14 to 28.11.14 (10 trips) at 08.40 p.m. to reach Chandigarh at 02.30 p.m. the next day.

NORTHERN RAILWAY STEPS UP VIGILANCE CHECKS IN MASS CONTACT AREAS DURING THE FESTIVE RUSH PERIOD

EARMARKS PERIOD FROM 20.09.2014 TO 31.10.2014 AS SPECIAL DRIVE PERIOD
A broad Action Plan has been chalked-out by the Northern Railway Vigilance to curb the activities of unscrupulous elements/touts in Mass Contact Areas during the ensuing Puja/Diwali Holidays. Earmarking a “Special Drive’ period from 20.09.2014 to 31.10.2014, Northern Railway has constituted special teams to carry out intensified checks during the period. Three teams headed by Vigilance Inspectors assisted by RPF staff will function o­n rotation basis and shall conduct checks in station premises and all public interface areas in the vicinity of Reservation Centres/stations.

4 TRIPS OF FESTIVAL SPECIAL TRAIN BETWEEN UDHANA AND NAGPUR

To clear extra rush during Durga Puja Railway will run 4 trips of  Special Train between Udhana and Nagpur.
According to a Western Railways Press Release, Train No. 01454 Udhana – Nagpur Weekly Special Train will leave from Udhana at 06.00 hrs o­n Thursday 25th September, 2014 and 02ndOctober, 2014 and will reach Nagpur at 22.20 hrs o­n same day.
Similarly Train no 01453 Nagpur – Udhana Weekly Special train will depart from Nagpur at 15.00 hrs o­n Wednesday 24thSeptember,2014 and 01stOctober,2014  and will reach Udhana at 04.15 hrs the next day.
This train will halt at Nandurbar, Amalner, Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Akola, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon & Wardha stations in both directions.
The train will comprise of AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Second Class Sleeper and Second Class General Coaches.
The booking for 01454 will open at all Passenger Reservation Centers o­n 19 September, 2014.

To facilitate passengers during the festive season, Railway will run 20 services of Bi-Weekly Premium Special Train No. 02691/02692 between Yesvantpur and Bikaner.

Train No. 02691 Yesvantpur-Bikaner Bi-Weekly Premium Special Train will depart Yesvantpur  at 12.10  hrs every Friday & Sunday  and reach Bikaner at 06.00  hrs  o­n Sunday & Tuesday from 26thSeptember, 2014 to 26th  October, 2014.

Similarly, Train No. 02692 Bikaner-YesvantpurBi-Weekly Premium Special Train will depart Bikaner at 18.00 hrs every Sunday & Tuesday and reach Yesvantpur at 11.50 hrs o­n Tuesday & Thursday from 28thSeptember, 2014 to 28th October, 2014.

RESERVATION OPEN FOR NAGPUR (01017), LUCKNOW (02111), JAMMU TAWI (02171) AND PUNE-LUCKNOW SPECIALS (01451) FROM 17.9.2014

Central Railway has announced running of 120 Festival Special trains during 2014 Puja/Diwali Holidays to clear the extra rush of passengers. Bookings for the following trains will open from 17.9.2014.

LOKMANYA TILAK TERMINUS – NAGPUR WEEKLY SPECIALS (4 TRIPS)
Train No.01017 will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 00.55 hrs o­n 25.9.2014 & 2.10.2014 and arrive Nagpur at 15.00 hrs same day.
Train No.01018 will leave Nagpur at 16.15 hrs o­n 25.9.2014 & 2.10.2014 and will arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 08.15 hrs next day.

REVISED TIMINGS OF JAMMU TAWI-MUMBAI SPECIAL TRAIN

Central Railway has decided to run Festival Special trains during 2014 Puja/Diwali Holidays. The details are as under:

1. LOKMANYA TILAK TERMINUS-KARMALI DOUBLE DECKER SPECIALS (16 TRIPS) MONSOON

Train No. 02005 Double Decker Special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 05.30 hrs o­n 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30.10.2014 and arrive Karmali at 16.30 hrs same day.
Train No. 02006 Double Decker Special will leave Karmali at 06.00 hrs o­n 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31.10.2014 and arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 17.40 hrs same day.

HALTS: Thane, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sawantwadi Road.
COMPOSITION: 8 Double Decker AC Chair Car, o­ne AC Pantry car and 2 Generator cum Guard’s brake vans.

Commodity-Wise Freight Revenue Earnings of Railways Goes Up by 16.70 Per Cent in August 2014 & 10.67 Per Cent During April-August 2014

The Indian Railways has generated Rs. 40358.24 crore of revenue earnings from commodity-wise freight traffic during April-August 2014 as compared to Rs. 36465.58 crore during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 10.67 per cent. Railways carried 445.73 million tonnes of commodity-wise freight traffic during April-August 2014 as compared to 426.14 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.60 per cent. 

During the month of August 2014, Railways generated Rs. 7906.93 crore as compared to Rs. 6775.43 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 16.70 per cent. Out of which, Rs. 3576.43 crore came from transportation of 43.43 million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs. 607.62 crore from 9.33 million tonnes of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 627.08 crore from 8.14 million tonnes of cement, Rs. 666.49 crore from 4.64 million tonnes of foodgrains, Rs. 459.26 crore from 3.66 million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs. 526.95 crore from 3.53 million tonnes of Pig iron and finished steel from steel plants and other points, Rs. 392.30 crore from 3.82 million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 143,.19 crore from 1.49 million tonnes of raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs. 395.35 crore from 4.23 million tonnes by container service and Rs. 512.26 crore from 5.88 million tonnes of other goods.

India, China Sign MOU & Action Plan to Enhance Cooperation in Railway Sector

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an Action Plan were signed between the Government of India and People’s Republic of China in enhancing Technical Cooperation in Railway Sector, at delegation level talks between the two countries here today. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and the visiting President of China, Xi Jinping. The Minister of Railways, Government of India, Shri D.V.Sadananda Gowda was especially present on the occasion. The signatories to the agreements were Chairman, Railway Board, Government of India, Shri Arunendra Kumar and Vice Minister & Administrator of National Railway Administration (NRA), China, Mr. Lu Dengfu.
The potential cooperation areas mentioned in the MoU are; i) Training in heavy haul freight transportation, ii) Raising of speed of trains on existing routes, iii) Station redevelopment, iv) High speed rail and v) Setting up of Railway University.

Following specific areas have been mentioned in Action Plan:

(a)               Training in heavy haul transportation:
A training programme has been finalised for 100 persons (20 persons per batch for total 5 batches) in the field of heavy haul transportation.
