Delhi Metro reaches highest point at Dhaula Kuan

The Metro viaduct between the South Campus and Delhi Cantt Metro Stations of the under construction 59 km long Majlis Park- Shiv Vihar corridor of Delhi Metro's Phase 3 which will cross over the existing alignment of the Airport Express line at Dhaula Kuan will be a major engineering achievement for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), as the viaduct will be constructed without hampering movement of trains on the Airport Line and the road traffic movement (Ring Road - Sardar Patel Marg) below.

The height of the viaduct will be 23.6 mtrs at this spot (as high as a 7 storey building) and will be the highest point of Delhi Metro so far surpassing Karkarduma where the Metro is 19 mtrs above the ground.

14 Superfast Special Trains between Pune and Bilaspur

Central Railway has decided to run 14 Superfast Special trains to clear the extra rush of Passengers. The details are as under:

08296 Weekly Superfast special will leave Pune at 15.15 hrs every Wednesday from 01.10.2014 to 12.11.2014 (7 trips) and will arrive Bilaspur at 12.05 hrs next day.

08295 Weekly Superfast special will leave Bilaspur at 12.15 hrs o­n every Tuesday from 30.09.2014 to 11.11.2014 (7 trips) and will arrive Pune at 11.45 hrs. next day.

HALTS: Daund, Kopargaon, Manmad, Bhusaval, Akola, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Raipur and Bhatapara.

COMPOSITION:-  Two AC 2-Tier, Five AC 3-Tier, Five Sleeper class, 4 General second class and 2 General second class cum guard's brake vans.

Trial of e-Catering Service on Selected Trains on Delhi Amritsar Section begins from Today

Now Book a Meal of your Choice in Trains through Phone or SMS

The Ministry of Railways has decided to start trial of e-catering service in trains. Its PSU, Indian Railways Catering &Tourism   Corporation (IRCTC), has been entrusted with the job of implementation of this service. IRCTC on a trial basis is starting e-catering services on a few trains on Delhi – Amritsar section from today i.e. 25th September 2014. This is a service where a passenger will be able to place an order for a meal, to be served at his seat in the train enroute, through a phone call or an SMS. Formal launching of e-catering service will be decided on the success of the above trial.
This service has started, on a trial basis, w.e.f. 25th September 2014, only in the Delhi – Amritsar section in six pairs of trains, which are:

15707/15708 (Katihar-Amritsar Exp),
11057/11058 (Amritsar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Exp),
12497/12498 (Shane Punjab Exp),
14037/14038 (Delhi-Pathankot Exp),
12459/12460 (New Delhi-Amritsar Exp) and
14673/14674 (Shaheed Exp)
These trains are without Pantry Cars.
During this TRIAL, passengers will be served food at the five nominated stations viz. New Delhi, Delhi, Nizamuddin, Amritsar and Ludhiana only.  Passengers may order for breakfast and meals (thalis) only, both Veg and Non-Veg. The food will be served from the IRCTC Food Plazas or Catering Units at the above stations.The passengers will have to make a call or to send an SMS to the dedicated numbers, with the PNR number, for e-catering service. Services will be available only for the confirmed PNR numbers.

ORDER THROUG A PHONE CALL

One may make a call to 1800 1034 139 (Toll free) or 0120 4383892-99 (8 lines) to book a meal. For placing an order by making a phone call, the passenger will have to give his PNR number first which will be verified (about its confirmation status, train no., coach no., seat no.). The passenger will thereafter be advised about the available menu e.g. Veg Thali, Non-Veg Thali, Veg Breakfast, Non-Veg Breakfast etc. along with their prices. The order will thereafter be taken as per preference and availability along with his mobile number and email-id.

Pipavav Railway Corporation Limited Registers 30 Per Cent Growth in Revenue during Fiscal 2013-14

Pipavav Railway Corporation Limited (PRCL), a joint sector Company of the Ministry of Railways and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited (GPPL) has earned traffic revenue of approximately Rs. 232 crore during fiscal 2013-14, registering a significant growth of 30 per cent compared to corresponding period of previous year and a net profit of Rs.80.78 crore. This has also improved the net worth of the Company from Rs. 202 crore to Rs. 272 crore. The Earning Per Share for Financial Year 2013-14 is Rs. 4.12 as against previous year figure of Rs. 2.37. The Company is debt free. 

The Company has declared an interim dividend for the financial year 2014-15 @ 20% (Rs. 2 per share) out of profits of the Company, amounting to approx. Rs. 40 crore to its shareholders. The audited financial results of the Company were presented by Shri D P Pande, Member Traffic, Railway Board and Chairman, PRCL to the Shareholders in the 14th Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 24th September 2014. The shareholders appreciated the Company and its Managing Director Shri Amitabh Lal for the performance. Chairman, PRCL also appreciated all stakeholders and the employees of the Company in the achievement. The meeting was attended by the shareholders representing Ministry of Railways, Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited, General Insurance Corporation of India, IL & FS Transportation Network Limited and The New India Assurance Company Limited. PRCL is the first flag-ship joint sector company of Ministry of Railways under public-private partnership. PRCL has constructed 270 kilometers broad gauge rail network line from APM Terminals, Pipavav to Surendranagar in Gujarat & operates and maintains it and has license to run container trains.

Railways to Launch Massive Cleanliness Campaign throughout the Country on 2nd October 2014 under “Swachh Bharat Mission”

Railway Board Members along with about 250 Officers Nominated to Visit Various Stations in the Country on Gandhi Jayanti Diwas

Railway Minister urges Union Ministers and Members of Parliament to Participate in this Campaign at any of the Stations in their Respective Constituencies

 


As part of the “Swachh Bharat Mission”  announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi , Indian Railways will be launching a massive special cleanliness campaign on 2nd October, Gandhi Jayanti Diwas involving ‘Shramdaan’ and awareness activities throughout the country. Speaking to media here today, the Minister of Railways Shri D.V.Sadananda Gowda said that entire fraternity of more than 13 lakhRailwaymen/women including officers and staff will be involved in this campaign, either in the ‘Shramdaan’relating to cleanliness activity or in spreading awareness on cleanliness. He said that directions have already been issued to all Zonal Railways, Public Sector Undertakings and Production Units to request all officers and staff (except running staff and other essential category staff)  to participate in the ‘Shramdaan’ relating to cleanliness activity or in spreading awareness on cleanliness. The detailed action plan and programmes have already been prepared by Zonal Railways
