Indian Railways to start Sushasan Express to mark Atal's 91st birthday

LUCKNOW: In a bid to connect the Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Indian Railways has decided to commence the operation of Sushasan Express on December 25 - the birthday of the former PM - from Gwalior to Gonda via Lucknow. The trains would gradually be extended to Balrampur.

According to senior railway officials, the operation of the Sushashan Express (11111/11112) is being seen as a special birthday gift to the former prime minister on his 91st birthday.

Interestingly, two stations on the train's route have a direct link with the former Prime Minister. Gwalior is the birthplace of Vajpayee, while Lucknow has been the parliamentary constituency of the ex-PM, who would be completing 90 years of his life.
