Central Railway will augment following express trains by one additional AC-2 tier coach on temporary basis for the benefit of passengers. The details are as under-
12262/12261 Chhatrapari Shivaji Terminus Mumbai - Howrah Duranto Express will be augmented by one AC-2 tier till 1.4.2015 Ex Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and till 31.3.2015 Ex Howrah.
12222/12221 Pune-Howrah Duranto Express will be augmented by one AC-2 tier till 30.3.2015 Ex. Pune and till 28.3.2015 Ex. Howrah.
Wait listed Passengers of above trains are requested to please note the augmentation and check their reservation status before commencement of journey.

One additional second class Jan chair car coach will also be attached to 12051 Dadar-Karmali Janshatabdi Express from 17.1.2015 Ex Dadar.

Eastern Railway has given emphasis on maintenance of overhauling of various coaches at its Carriage & Wagon Workshop at Liluah.
Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway inspected the Carriage & Wagon Workshop of Eastern Railway this morning (12.1.2015). More than 100 years old workshop, now being modernised for overhauling of all types of coaches like AC coaches, state-of-the-art LHB coaches etc. Recently, Liluah workshop has increased the outturn of LHB coaches from 30 coaches per month to 39 in November and 45 in December 2014.
A special two-day Training of Trainers workshop was conducted on Human Rights sensitization and training for Senior officers of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from the railway zones and master trainers drawn from 34 training centres across the country in New Delhi last week. The training workshop, organised by Security Directorate of Ministry of Railways was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC (Former Chief Justice of India). While commending the RPF initiative, the Chairperson emphasized on the need to protect the basic rights of rail passengers and ensure a safe and secure environment on trains. He mentioned that the RPF was facing the challenging task of providing security to the Indian Railways which was one of the largest in the world. The facility for booking unreserved suburban tickets on mobile phones has been introduced on Southern Railway. This application is a pilot project and at stage one, tickets will be issued for journeys commencing on any of the following five stations.
Chennai Beach, Chennai Egmore, Saidapet, Chrompet and Tambaram.
This application can be downloaded on an Android/Windows based Smart phone. Using their mobile number as their identity, the customer can register as a user of this application and thereby can book an unreserved suburban ticket on his phone. Following registration, the passenger is given a zero value or account known as Railway-Wallet (R-Wallet). This R-Wallet can be charged by the user across the counter in any of the above five locations or through the Website www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in on line. However, at present charging and recharging the R-Wallet will only be across counters. The online facility will be activated soon. The R-Wallet can be used only for booking of rail tickets. After booking a ticket, the passenger must go to an ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine) at the journey originating station and take a print out of the ticket. Passengers cannot travel without this printed ticket.

All the Divisions and Units of the Medical Department in Southern Railway are in preparedness to administer polio drops to all the children below 5 years of Railway men and the travelling public on 18thJanuary, 2015 and on 22nd February, 2015, the days for Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation across the Nation.

Train No.66047 Chennai Central – Tirupati MEMU train & Train No.66048 Tirupati – Chennai Central MEMU train will be re-introduced with effect from 15.01.2015.
T.No.66047 Chennai Central – Tirupati MEMU train will leave Chennai Central (MMC) at 09.50 hrs. and arrive Tirupati at 13.30 hrs. the same day.
Train No.66048 Tirupati – Chennai Central MEMU train will leave Tirupati at 17.20 hrs. and arrive Chennai Central (MMC) at 21.05 hrs. the same day.
The trains will stop at Basin Bridge, Perambur, Villivakkam, Tiruninravur, Tiruvallur, Kadambattur, Tiruvalangadu, Arakkonam Jn. Tiruttani, Ekambarakuppam, Puttur and Renigunta Junction. Train No.66048 Tirupati – Chennai Central MEMU train will stop at Avadi also.
CHANGE IN TIMINGS OF MMC – AVADI EMU
Consequent to the re-introduction of the MEMU train service between Chennai Central – Tirupati, the timings of Train No.66001 MMC – Avadi EMU is revised as explained below.
Train No.66001 MMC – Avadi EMU local will leave MMC at 23.00 hrs. instead of 09.15 hrs and will reach Avadi at 23.45 hrs. instead of 10.00 hrs.
SUNDAY PATTERN OF WORKING FOR PRS CENTRES & SUNDAY PATTERN OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICES ON THE DAY OF PONGAL FESTIVAL
The Computerised Passenger Reservation Centres in Chennai Divisionof Southern Railway will function for only one shift, similar to Sunday pattern of working (08.00 hrs. to 14.00 hrs), on 15.01.2015, Thursday, on account of Pongal festival.
SUNDAY PATTERN OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICES ON THE DAY OF PONGAL FESTIVAL
In view of holiday on the day of Pongal festival on 15.01.2015, Thursday, Sunday pattern of suburban train services will be maintained in Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu & Chennai Beach – Velachery sections on that day.
Moreover, the ladies special services running in Arakkonam – Chennai Beach – Arakkonam section will not run on 15.01.2015.
Smoke billowing out of the Rail Carriage Repair Workshop in Hubballi on Wednesday
हुबली Hubli (UBL): A major fire that broke out in the century-old Rail Carriage Repair Workshop on Gadag Road here, created panic among the workers and the public on Wednesday.
The fire was noticed around 12.50 p.m. at the rubbish yard of the workshop, and spread quickly. There were no casualties.
Guraru (GRRU): The rail movements were disrupted for four hours under Grand chord section on Howrah-New Delhi rail route on Wednesday.
Over Head Equipment (OHE) broke down at Guraru station which interrupted the power supply and halted trains for several hours.
Sources said,”OHE sheared on down track in the early morning and the rail movement was disrupted from 6 am to 10 am.
सील्डा Sealdah (SDAH): R K Gupta, general manager (GM), Eastern Railway made a surprise visit to Sealdah station, this afternoon and inspected the station facilities and passenger amenities.
Gupta inspected the various facilities arranged for the pilgrims of Gangasagar Mela, viz. functioning of “May I Help” counters, booking counters, announcements for the guidance of the Gangasagar pilgrims etc. He also reviewed the punctuality of the additional EMU locals for the Mela purpose. He advised the Divisional Officials to make arrangements for proper guidance to the pilgrims for boarding the trains.
Nagpur: Central Railway Nagpur Divisional Railway Manager Mr.OP Singh on Wednesday admitted three key infrastructure projects – doubling of Kalamna-Godhni chord line, Nagpur-Wardha third line and doubling of Kalamna-Nagpur line – hold the key to development of railways in the region.
Talking to newsmen, Singh said Kalamna-Godhni chord line doubling would ease congestion caused by freight trains at Nagpur as these trains will bypass Nagpur while moving between to and from north and east directions.
नई दिल्ली New Delhi: Railways is finalising a multi- modal transportation system in coordination with other agencies to serve the passengers in a better way. Acknowledging problems concerning train services, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said an integrated policy is needed to address these.
“There are problems and I am aware of it. There is a need for integrated policy to address those problems,” he said here while participating in an interactive session to highlight problems being faced by passengers.
Welcoming suggestions from the public to improve rail system, he said, “Railways should not become an arena of politics. It is an asset of the nation.” He said this when told that successive railway ministers had used Railways to further their political interest.
पटना Patna (PNBE): East Central Railway (ECR) GM A K Mittal on Wednesday inspected the ongoing work on the Digha-Sonepur rail cum road bridge from Patliputra station to Parmanandpur end.
ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak said Mittal directed the officials concerned to work in close coordination with the district officials of Patna and Saran to remove encroachments so that the approach roads could be built smoothly. Railways has now successfully erected viaducts on two spans of the superstructure of the bridge. The GM asked the agencies engaged in the work to complete the road deck also. The railways has completed almost all the 36 spans of the bridge, he said.

टाटानगर Tatanagar (TATA): The second entrance to Tatanagar railway station from Burmamines end, that is likely to make boarding trains easier for those coming from the eastern parts of the steel city, is likely to be opened to public within this year.
General manager of South Eastern Railway (SER) Radhey Shyam, who visited the station on Wednesday, said efforts were being taken to ensure that the entrance was ready as early as possible.
नई दिल्ली New Delhi: It will cost the state exchequer a pounding ?6 lakh crore to complete the pending projects with the railway ministry, revealed the union minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu at the maiden episode of Zee News’ upcoming show Razniti. He informed that of the 674 projects in the last 20 years, only 312 have been completed. The railways ferry almost 2.6 lakh visitors everyday.
Speaking to a gathering of policy makers, politicos and people from the press, the minister said that the lack of funds is a critical issue that is holding up the steering of the railways to success. The gathering had in attendance former Samajwadi Party member Amar Singh, BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, actor Manoj Tiwari, Madhu Mishwar and Justice Mudgal.
नई दिल्ली New Delhi: The next time you travel by Delhi Metro, recheck the name of the station. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is in the process of renaming its stations—for a fee. As part of a revenue generating move, DMRC had in July last year introduced the concept of renaming some stations for a sum. The response, says Delhi Metro, has been good and four stations were bid for by private companies.

नई दिल्ली New Delhi: A ‘Gandhi Express’ to link places associated with the Mahatma and a Logistics Corporation of India (LCI) to help India’s public transporter generate more freight revenue are among the announcements that railways minister Suresh Prabhu is expected to make in his maiden budget speech next month.
Concessions to farmers and a Kisan Express, which will have air-conditioned wagons for transporting fresh fruit and vegetables, is also likely to be part of the budget.
