Member Electrical, Railway Board Commissions Building Energy Management System & LED Lights

Indian Railways has sanctioned a pilot project for improving energy efficiency by provision of building energy management system and energy efficient LED light fittings at Dadar railway station.  Shri Navin Tandon, Member Electrical, Railway Board commissioned this project funded by GEF-UNDP.

16 PREMIUM SUPERFAST SUMMER SPECIAL TRAINS BETWEEN MUMBAI AND PATNA

Central Railway will run 16 premium superfast special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai and Patna to clear the extra rush of passengers during summer holidays. The details are as under:
 
Train No. 02053 premium special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai o­n every Tuesday from 5.5.2015 to 23.6.2015 at 0055 hrs and arrive Patna at 0800 hrs next day.
Train No.02054 premium special will leave Patna o­n every Wednesday from 6.5.2015 to 24.6.2015 at 1250 hrs and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai at 1605 hrs next day.
 
HALTS: Kalyan, Bhusaval, Jabalpur, Chheoki and Mughalsarai

COMPOSITION: o­ne First AC cum AC-2 Tier, o­ne AC-2 tier, Two AC-3 Tier, 12 Sleeper class & o­ne pantry car

RESERVATION: Bookings will open o­n 1.5.2015 THROUGH INTERNET for train No. 02053 leaving o­n 5.5.2015 and for trains leaving subsequently will open with Advance Reservation Period of 10 days (excluding the day of Journey)

18 Super Fast Jansadharan Summer Special Trains between Mumbai and Gorakhpur via Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow

Railways will run a weekly Jansadharan Superfast Summer special train between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai and Gorakhpur to clear the extra rush of passengers as per details given below.

Train No. 02598 Jansadharan Superfast Weekly special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai at 1420 hrs every Sunday from 03.05.2015 to 28.06.2015 (9 Trips) and will reach Gorakhpur at 1845 hrs next day.

ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE FOR GENERAL PUBLIC IN TEACHERS SPECIAL TRAIN FROM MANDUADIH TO MUMBAI

As announced earlier Central Railway will run Teachers' special trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Manduadih. Bookings for Teachers' special trains i.e. Train No. 01097 & 01098 was done o­n 26.4.2015 at Reservation office at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai o­nly. 

8 MORE AC SUPERFAST WEEKLYSPECIALS BETWEEN LOKMANYA TILAK TEMINUS – LUCKNOW

Central Railway has decided to extend the run of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus - Lucknow AC Superfast weekly special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers. The details are as under –

02111 AC Superfast weekly special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 14.20 hrs o­n every Sat from 9.5.2015 to 30.5.2015 and arrive Lucknow at 13.35 hrs next day.

Environmental Friendly Production Units of Railways

Environment related parameters in the Railway Production Units are being monitored as indicated by the respective State Pollution Control Boards. All old established Production Units of Railways have also set up systems as per ISO 14001 Environment Management System and environment related audits are carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions. The other two Production Units, namely, Rail Coach Factory, Rae Bareli and Rail Wheel Plant, Bela, which are new, have also set up internal mechanisms for monitoring environment related parameters. 

Energy Conservation Measures taken by Railways

Indian Railways has issued guidelines from time to time to harness wind and solar energy. Guidelines are also issued for implementation of various energy conservation measures. 

Indian Railways has installed solar and windmill plants of about 20 Mega Watt (MW) capacity. To reduce dependence on fossil fuel, it is intended to source solar and wind power progressively. 

Railway Lunches Mobile App for Public Complains/Suggestions

A portal on Complaint Management was launched on 2nd March 2015, both in English and Hindi. However, the mobile application which was launched on same day is available only in English on Android platform. 

The public complaints and suggestions are being monitored on a real time basis. Necessary instructions have been issued to concerned officials to finalize the complaints at the earliest. However, no time frame has been set to redress the complaints. 

Upgradation of Railway Stations in North Eastern Region

Upgradation of passenger amenities at stations is a continuous process. Such upgradation of identified stations in various Zonal Railways including North Eastern Railway is undertaken under various station upgradation schemes including Adarsh Station Scheme. 34 stations on North Eastern Railway have been identified under Adarsh Station Scheme, out of which 27 stations have been developed. 

Railways Provides Complimentary Card Passes for Sports Persons

 Under the extant policy following categories of sports persons are provided 1st  class/2nd AC Complimentary Card passes by the Ministry of Railways for free rail travel:-
1.                   Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardees
2.                   Olympic Medalists
3.                   Arjuna Awardees

Model Concession Agreement for ‘BOT’ on Railways

Ministry of Railways has issued Model Concession Agreement for Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model. Under this model, project will be bid out through competitive bidding to the private concessionaire who will Design, Build, Finance, Construct and maintain the project. Indian Railways will pay user charges to the concessionaire equal to 50 per cent of the apportioned revenue. The normal concession period will be for 25 years. 

Partnership of Railways with State Governments for Railway Projects

Ministry of Railways has approached all State Governments to form Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) jointly with Ministry of Railways to undertake mutually identified rail infrastructure projects for project development, resources mobilization and monitoring. 17 State Governments have responded showing their interest in this regard. 

Curbs on Online Train Ticketing to Check Activities of Unscrupulous Elements Including Touts

Following curbs have been introduced by Indian Railways on online train ticketing to inter-alia keep a check on the activities of unscrupulous elements including touts: 

i. There is a restriction of only one booking in one user login session and forced logging out of the user before another booking while booking of tickets between 0800 and 1200 hours except for return/onward journey tickets. This is applicable to all users including IRCTC agents but excluding defence booking under warrants only.

Improving the Functioning and Performance of Railways

The Committee headed by Dr. E. Sreedharan has submitted its final report on 11.3.15 for delegation of tendering and commercial powers to General Managers and other operating levels. 

The Committee headed by Dr. Bibek Debroy on Mobilisation of Resources for Major Railways Projects and Restructuring of Railways Ministry and Railway Board has submitted its Interim Report in March 2015 containing, inter alia, recommendations o improving the functioning and performance of Railways.

Indian Railways Bags Gold in Indian Senior Men National Hockey Championship

Indian Railway Hockey Team (Men) participated in 5th Hockey India Senior Men National Hockey Championship held at Pune from 16th to 29th April 2015 and won Gold Medal by beating Uttar Pradesh in final with a score of 5-3. 

Indian Railway Hockey Team (Men) had won Gold Medal on last occasion in the year 1997 by beating Tamilnadu.
