Expected DA from July 2015

The Expected DA Calculator can be used to know the approximate DA that you will get for the month of July 2015.
To calculate the DA which is given once in six months, (Jan-July) we need the AICPIN value of 12 months. Now, the AICPIN value of the past ten months alone has come out. Only when the AICPIN value of the remaining two months is released can the DA for July 2015 be calculated accurately.
If the AICPIN value for the next two months increases by a point, or remains the same or decreases by a point, then how much DA will we get? In order to know this, we have given three tables below which will help you to know the approximate DA amount.
If in the months of May-June, the AICPIN value for increases by 1 point.
If in the moths of May -June, the AICPIN value remains the same as the previous months
expected da 2
If in the months of May-June, the AICPIN value decreases by 1 point
Moreover, the Labour Department calculates the AICPIN value based on the price change of essential commodities in and across the country. Similarly, when new pay commissions come, they introduce some changes in the AICPIN calculation and then the AICPIN value is released. In that way, this DA will be the last one that the 6th Pay commission is going to announce. Let us wait and see how the forthcoming 7th CPC changes the AICPIN calculation.

Transport chiefs drop Henbury Loop plan

The Henbury Loop runs through Henbury, Filton and Hallen

Councillors have dropped plans to create a railway "loop" connecting Filton in north Bristol with Avonmouth, after it was deemed too risky.

A business case for major rail upgrade options recommended a "spur" line stopping at Henbury instead of a loop.

The West of England's Joint Transport Board backed the report - the spur line is expected to open by 2021.

Bristol North West MP Charlotte Leslie said the report was flawed and the decision was "extraordinary".

The Henbury Loop line currently carries freight between Filton and Avonmouth, but closed to passengers in 1964.The spur would involve trains running between Henbury and Bristol Temple Meads

Ms Leslie argued that re-opening it to passengers would ease congestion as thousands of homes are built around the former Filton Airfield and it would improve access to jobs in Avonmouth and Severnside.

"The Henbury Loop is not only viable, it's absolutely necessary and we want the business case to reflect that," she said.

Responding to Ms Leslie's comments, the board said, while it had approved the spur option, it was not ruling out the loop in the longer term.

"We can get on and do the spur now or wait for the loop but this could add another two to four years to the project and we risk losing some of the funding," a spokesman said.

But campaign groups Transport for Greater Bristol Alliance and the Friends of Bristol Suburban Railways described the report as "fatally flawed".

They said much of the industrial area around Avonmouth had no public transport - those without a private car had difficulty accessing the area and only rail services on the Henbury Loop could provide a solution.

The Local Enterprise Partnership said the loop would be more disruptive to traffic and would require £3m a year of financial support while the spur would break even by 2034.

Nine Railway Stations of Jharkhand are chosen for modernisation into world-class

Ranchi (R): Nine railway stations from Jharkhand are a part of the Centre’s list of 400 chosen for modernisation into world-class infrastructure through private-public partnership (PPP) mode, getting the seal of Union cabinet’s approval on July 16.

Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu has promised a web-based bidding process and evaluation by independent experts to ensure transparency in this ambitious exercise, which is likely to see mega investments from private partners.

Of the 400 A or A-1 category stations across India with focus on metros, major cities, pilgrimage centres and tourist destinations, Jharkhand’s nine are Ranchi, Hatia and Bokaro of South Eastern Railway, Daltonganj, Gomoh, Koderma and Parasnath of East Central Railway, and Jasidih and Madhupur of Eastern Railway.

Sanjoy Ghosh, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Calcutta-headquartered South Eastern Railway (SER), said all the nine were Category-A Railway stations.

An official from SER, Calcutta, said though the final modalities of revamp were yet to be known, the stations would be developed on the Swiss Challenge approach, which is by inviting open bids from interesting parties.

“For instance, a real estate developer may give a detailed proposal of redevelopment of a railway station, which would be uploaded on the official website. If someone comes up with a better proposal, that new proposal would be accepted, and this process would go on, till a special railway committee selects the best proposal,” the SER official said.

“Developers will leverage real estate development of the land and air space in and around the stations,” he added.

Niraj Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager of Ranchi division under SER, also maintained they were yet to formally get modalities of the project.

“Ranchi and Hatia railway stations are under our division. We are looking forward to out-of-the-box ideas from interested parties for redevelopment of these railway stations,” he said.

Prabhu, during his visit to Ranchi in June, had also maintained that they planned to convert Ranchi station into a world-class facility.

Reminded of the minister’s promise, senior divisional commercial manager Kumar said: “Making Ranchi station world class will take time but a dedicated team has already started working in this regard.”

Elaborating on the proposal, he said: “A world-class station is one that has proper transport linkages with other stations, high-end passenger amenities, including shops, restaurants and lounges, etc. All these will have to be done on the PPP mode. For this, you need to have land so that a private player can work uninterrupted.”

“We (the railways) have enough land but at various places we don’t have title deeds. Therefore, we have activated a dedicated team that is in constant touch with state government to transfer title deeds. The government is very positive and is cooperating with us. But it is a time-taking process and needs meticulous planning and paperwork on all fronts,” Kumar stressed.

Gang that promised jobs for youth in Metro project held

Five persons picked up from a hotel in Chennai

The Chennai city police have arrested five people, including a woman, on charges of cheating several people, promising them jobs in Chennai Metro Rail Limited. They reportedly collected over Rs. 2 crore from unsuspecting people looking for government jobs.

Investigating policemen, who busted the job racket, said they acted on a complaint from G.Rajarathnam, general manager, human resources, CMRL.

According to the complainant, they started getting several enquiries if they had appointed any agency or individuals to hire technical and administrative staff for the Chennai headquarters and other operational units.

The probe led policemen to 54-year-old S.Paulraj of Saidapet, leader of the job racket. The group is reported to have managed to establish a network among young unemployed graduates, desperate to get jobs, an assistant commissioner said.

A. Mahendran (51) and his wife Rajathi (36) of Coimbatore, Mahendran’s brother A. Nagaraj (56) and Arjunkumar (36) from Vathalagundu, Dindugal, who were picked up from a hotel on Arcot Road on Saturday evening, had helped Paulraj.

The youth reportedly paid sums between Rs.15 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh. After collecting the money, the group promised each one of them that they would get their appointment letters soon.

Some of them even received bogus appointment letters, the officer said. The gang had also promised jobs to young graduates in many State government departments.

A luxury car, bogus documents and cheques issued by the youth were recovered from them.

They were produced before a city court and were remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.

Rs. 2 crore in cash, a luxury car and bogus documents and cheques seized

Railways to increase coaches in express trains from 24 to 26

New Delhi: Faced with the ever-increasing passenger rush, Railways have decided to increase the permissible limit of coaches in express trains from 24 to 26 to create additional berths.

The capacity expansion would be first carried out in about five trains on different routes where existing infrastructure can handle such long trains.
The capacity expansion would be first carried out in about five trains on different routes where existing infrastructure can handle such long trains.
Though Railway officials remain tight-lipped about the likely trains to be augmented, there are indications that a couple of Rajdhanis plying on Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes could be picked up. An announcement would be made after the clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety.

"The move would increase the berths available for reservation by about 100-150," they said. At present, a train rake comprises 18 to 24 coaches depending on the patronage enjoyed by them. The talk of raising the permissible limit to 26 coaches has been going on for quite some time but plans could not be brought on the ground owing to lack of required infrastructure.

"But the beginning has been made and we are identifying which are the routes where we can run trains with 26 coaches," they said.

The length of platforms at stations which can accommodate such trains and the length of the loop lines are some of the requirements that are being looked into before the services are launched.

According to the Rail Budget for 2015-16, Indian Railways' earnings from passenger traffic were estimated to rise 16.7% to Rs 50,175 crore for the current fiscal year, envisaging more people travelling by trains. It estimated 860 crore passengers to travel by trains.

To cope with the rush, Railways have added 130 coaches in as many trains during this fiscal apart from running special trains.

Economy will grow 2-3% more if investments in Railway are encouraged: Prabhu

The Indian economy will register an increased growth by 2-3% if the country's railway network is pumped with a massive investment to boost the connectivity, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said.

"The Indian economy will grow by 2 to 3 per cent more with increased investments in the railways as reforms in transportation sector are vital to exploit full growth potential of the country," Prabhu said at a function here last night.

Citing the example of China, he said, "China made massive investment in the railways and showed that a country can accelerate development by boosting connectivity." Pointing out that congestion was one of the main problems faced by the Indian railways, the minister said doubling and tripling of the lines can happen only with a hike in investment in the sector.

He said the tendering process of the railways and other commercial decisions were not being handled by the railway minister in the NDA government, as far as the delegation and decentralisation of power to the departments is concerned.

"This has resulted in less loitering by agents in the Rail Bhavan," he said.

"The Railway minister now works only on policy execution. Decentralisation of power of decision making, if necessary, is in the interest of a transparent administration," he noted.

The cabinet had recently cleared development plans for 400 railway stations, Prabhu said, adding that the railways should be seen as a new medium of development for the country in future.

Central Railway commuters face double trouble

Local train derails between Dombivali and Thakurli leading to cancellation of 20 services
A police man giving instructions to the commuters as a local train derailed at the central line at Dombivli station, causing inconvenience to the commuters on Sunday.
Mumbai : Commuters on Central Railway (CR) had to face double trouble on Sunday after two wheels of a train heading towards Kalyan derailed while the train was passing between Dombivali and Thakurli statioins. No commuter travelling in the train sustained injuries in the incident but as many as 20 services had to be cancelled while several others were running with a delay of 20 minutes and above much after the problem was resolved at 1:55 pm.
After the train crossed Dombivali at 11:34 am two wheels of the coach slipped off tracks resulting into derailment. The train got stuck on track for about two hours due to which commuters had to jump off the train and walk to the nearby railway stations. The tracks were restored at 1:55 pm. This incident comes on a Sunday when commuters have to deal with delayed trains and fewer services due to mega block. This Sunday being an off day and second day of Eid celebrations only complicated the problem. Railways stations were flooded with commuters who were mostly heading to meet their relatives after the festival. Mohammad Faiz, who was heading to Kalyan to meet his relatives said, “I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes before I could get another train which was also very crowded.”
This is the first incident that Central Railway (CR) has witnessed over the past one year after the spate of derailments during August and October 2014. Senior railway officials who visited the derailment spot have suggested a fault with the tracks than the train which could have caused derailment. A railway official said, “We have checked the coaches. During preliminary investigation there seems to be nothing wrong with them. The mud beneath the tracks sank which could have possibly caused the derailment. Actual cause of the incident will be known after filing of the report.”
