Shri S. Mookerjee takes over as the New Financial Commissioner (FC) of (Railways) today i.e. 01/10/2015

Shri S. Mookerjee has taken over today i.e. 01/10/2015 as the new Financial Commissioner (FC) (Railways) and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India.  He takes charge after Smt. Rajalakshmi Ravi Kumar retired as FC on superannuation on 30.09.2015. Prior to this posting, Shri S. Mookerjee was posted as Director General, National Academy of Indian Railways(NAIR), Vadodara.

House Rent Allowance of Railway Employees have been revised on the basis of re-classification of cities as per census 2011 – and towns on the basis of 2011 Census in to X, Y and Z Categories. Railway Board has issued orders in this respect.

As a part of Railways’ constant endeavor to provide safe travelling experience, as announced by Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Central Railway has installed CCTV cameras with recorders in all Ladies compartments of o­ne Mail Line Suburban train o­n trial basis. This suburban train will be introduced in service from 2.10.2015.

Ministry of Railway Releases All India Railway Time Table “Trains at Glance 2015-16” (to be effective from tomorrow i.e. 01-10-2015)

The Ministry of Railways has released its new All India Railway Time Table known as “TRAINS AT A GLANCE (TAG) 2015-16” which will come into effect from tomorrow i.e.  1stOctober 2015.  In addition to the “Trains at a Glance”, all the 17 Zonal Railways are releasing  their Zonal Railway Time Tables  (5 Zonal time tables in all, each Zonal Time Table comprising 3-4 Zonal Railways train services) which will  also come into effect from 1st October 2015. Passengers are advised to refer to the new timings and new starting terminal stations etc. w.e.f. 1st October 2015 before starting the journey. The new Trains at a Glance will also be available w.e.f. 1st October 2015 on Indian Railways’ official website i.e. www.indianrailways.gov.in.

New facility for passengers at Charbagh

LUCKNOW: Passengers will get six Cash Coin Ticket Vending Machines at Charbagh railway station. The machines will be unmanned and operated by passengers themselves. IRCTC Introduces Spl Trains to 'Gandhi Destinations'

CHENNAI:The tourism and catering branch of the Indian Railways, IRCTC, has come out with a special six-day tourist train package from Madurai which will cover historical sites in Delhi linked to Mahatma Gandhi and a visit to Agra from September 30. The package has been launched as a part of the centenary celebrations of the arrival of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to India from South Africa. Gandhi returned to India with his wife Kasturba on January 9, 1915.

The Gandhi Special tourist train from Madurai has been routed via Dindigul, Karur, Erode, Salem, Katpadi and Chennai as boarding stations. Apart from the general public and tourists, it targets students across various cities and towns as prospective boarders.


As a part of Railways’ constant endeavor to provide safe travelling experience, as announced by Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Central Railway has installed CCTV cameras with recorders in all Ladies compartments of o­ne Mail Line Suburban train o­n trial basis. This suburban train will be introduced in service from 2.10.2015.

The recorders installed have the capacity to store recording of 30 days, which can be utilized for analysis whenever required.

Further provision of CCTV cameras with recorders o­n 50 EMU coaches is planned during the current financial year.

New Rly Timetable from Today

BENGALURU: Beginning October 1, South Western Railway is effecting changes in the schedules of 48 trains. In addition, 11 trains will be speeded up and two trains will be amalagamated into one.

Train Nos. Solapur-Bagalkot-Solapur Passenger (57641/57642) and Train Nos. Bagalkot-Gadag-Bagalkot Passenger (57643/57644) will run as a single train with effect from October 1. The Solapur-Gadag Passenger (Train No. 57641) will leave Solapur at 11.50 am and arrive/depart at Bijapur at 2 pm/2.05 pm; Bagalkot at 4.55 pm/5 pm and reach Gadag stn at 7.40 pm effect from October 1. In the return direction, Gadag-Solapur Passenger (Train No. 57642) will leave Gadag at 2 am and arrive/depart at Bagalkot at 2.13 am/2-15 am; Bijapur at 6.25 am/6.30 am and reach Solapur at 9.30 am.

Speeding of Trains:

The following trains will be speeded up: 

Hubballi-Miraj Express, Bengaluru City-Nagercoil Express, Bengaluru City-CSTM (Mumbai) Express, Yeshwantpur-Mysuru Express, Bengaluru City-Arakkonam Passenger (Oct 1), Kolhapur-Hyderabad Express (Oct 2). Mysuru-Solapur Gol Gumbaz Express, (Train no. 16535) will depart at Mysuru at 4 pm from October 1. It will leave Yeshwantpur at 7.15 pm and arrive/depart at Vijayapura at 9.25 am/9.30 am from October 2.

The Solapur-Mysuru Gol Gumbaz Express (Train No.16536) will arrive/depart at Vijayapura station at 4.50pm/5 pm from October 1.

The Yeshwantpur-Karwar Tri-Weekly Express will leave Yeshwantpur at 7 am and arrive/depart at Arasikere at 9.55 am/10.05 am with effect from October 2.

New train to Bengaluru only in timetable

A new express train between Bengaluru and Mangaluru announced by the then Minister for Railways D.V. Sadananda Gowda features in the new timetable announced by the Southern Railway on September 29.

Train No. 16576 Mangaluru-Bengaluru Daily Express via Kabakaputtur is scheduled to leave at 6.30 a.m. and its pairing train from Bengaluru, Train No. 16575 would arrive at Mangaluru at 9.15 p.m.

But there is no reason for Mangalureans to rejoice, as the timetable for these services are marked with an asterisk, indicating that the date of introduction of the services would be notified later. However, the timetable released by the South Western Railway recently does not list these trains.

New timings

The new timetable would be effective from October 1, in which departure the timings of two important trains from Mangaluru Central have been revised. Trains towards Mumbai would run on the monsoon timetable till October 31. Train No. 56640, Mangaluru-Madgaon Passenger would depart Mangaluru Central at 5.50 a.m. instead of the monsoon time of 6.20 a.m.
