Acceptance of Diploma/Degree in Engineering prescribed for open market recruitment to posts on the railways — Duration of course regarding – RBE 138/2015

Instances have come to notice of this Ministry, wherein, candidates the written examinationconducted by Railway Recruitment Boards are producing Diploma/Degree in Engineering of varied duration conducted by various institutions.
The matter has been looked into and it has been decided that henceforth a minimum of three year Diploma course in Engineering and a minimum of four year course in Engineering done after +2 shall only be accepted in addition to Diploma in Engineering obtained from Polytechnics. Instructions contained in Board’sletter No. dated 08.12.2011 still hold good.

China has turned the Tibetan Plateau into a “vast military zone” deploying a large number of troops with most of them along the Indian sub-continent, claimed the Core Group for Tibetan Cause (CGTC).
“China has turned the once peaceful and buffer state between India and China into a vast military zone. The militarisation of the Tibetan Plateau profoundly affects the geopolitical balance of the region, which causes serious international tension, particularly in the Indian sub-continent,” claimed the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, an apex coordinating body of Tibet Support Groups all over India.
“If we don’t make investment in railways there won’t be any future revenues that will come into the railways to improve the operating ratio,” Prabhu said weeks before the Railway Budget.
New Delhi: No new trains would be announced in the coming railway budget of 2016-17 as the transporter has decided to do away with the practice adopted by its political masters in the past to appease various constituencies.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu said, “the budget should be about financial outlays so why new trains and stoppages should be part of it?” However, the minister emphasized that new trains will be announced as and when there is a need, considering the demand and economic viability.
A loco engine today derailed at a yard of Ramganj Mandi railway station in Kota district of Rajasthan, a senior official said.
Two loco pilots received minor injuries and were administered first-aid, an official of the Senior Divisional Manager(DCM) office, Kota told PTI over phone.
The reason of the derailment has not yet been ascertained but an inquiry will be held to investigate the matter, the official said.
The incident happened inside a local shed, so no passenger services were affected, they added.

Pune: On 1st Nov. 2015, Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN) celebrated its 58thIRICEN day.
A special function, to mark the occasion, presided by chief guest Shri S.S. Narayanan, Additional Member (Civil Engineering), Railway Board saw number of dignitaries from allover Indian Railways. The Officers of 1989 batch, who are accomplishingfeat of serving 25 years (Silver Jubilee Batch) of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) were felicitated on this occasion.
New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in association with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Govt. of India Undertaking, today inaugurated two Kiosks at Metro Bhawan to promote and provide energy efficient LED bulbs to all employees of DMRC.
The Kiosks, set up as a part of the campaign to promote the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) undertaken by EESL, was inaugurated by Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC and Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency in the presence of Mr.Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director/EESL.
Kolkata: Stone India Ltd, GP Goenka group company, is developing upgraded products to stay technologically competitive in the railway components business.
According to the management, as the Indian Railways is gradually upgrading the production of electric locomotives (from conventional to 3-phase), the company was designing and developing computer operated brake system for freight and passenger locomotives.
Research Design and Standards Organisation of Indian Railways has also approved the design of the proposed brake system. Currently, the company is engaged in developing the prototypes for final evaluation by the authorities by the end of this fiscal.
Rail minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday said he has asked the railway board to ensure savings of at least Rs 5,000 crore by 2019 on railways' energy bill of Rs 33,000 crore.
"Our target, for which I keep pressing my board colleagues, is to try and save nothing less than Rs 5,000 crore in five years," Prabhu told an audience comprising global rail sector companies and experts at the International Summit on Energy Efficient Technologies in Railways.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance today unveiled the first glimpse of Sydney’s new metro train, with a life-size train model delivered for customer testing on Sydney Metro Northwest.
The 13-tonne life-size train model has been delivered to the Showground Station site and is a full-scale version of approximately 75 per cent of the front carriage – including the distinctive nose section where customers will be able to travel while looking directly out the front of the fully automated train.
“This is a pretty exciting glimpse of tomorrow’s Sydney,” Mr Constance said.
