रायगढ़ (निप्र)। रायपुर-झारसुगड़ा 310 किमी की बहुप्रतिक्षित लंबी रेल लाइन को रेल मंत्रालय ने हरी झंडी दे दी है। इस प्रस्तावित रेल परियोजना को हरी झंडी मिलने का सारंगढ़-बरमकेला अंचलवासियों को लंबे समय से इंतजार था। रेल प्रशासन ने करीब दो वर्ष पूर्व उक्त रेल लाइन के लिए 2163 करोड़ रुपए का प्रस्ताव बनाकर रेल मंत्रालय भेजा था। जिसे रेल मंत्री ने प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री के समक्ष स्वीकृति प्रदान कर दी।

Khattar hails people of Uttrakhand

Tatkal refund: Can’t interfere in policy decision, says HC

Observing that it was a policy decision of the railway authorities, the Madras High Court has dismissed a plea which sought to quash a GO, which notified no refund for a cancelled tatkal ticket and reduced the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) from two days to one under the scheme.

During hearing of a plea by S. Srinivasa Narayanan, counsel appearing for the Railways said 25 per cent of the fare was refunded when the ARP was two days and since it was reduced to 24 hours no

Hubballi division of SWR records 23.65 p.c. growth in freight earnings

The Hubballi division of South Western Railway, which had seen a sudden fall in freight earnings in recent years, especially after the ban on export of iron ore, has registered a good growth in freight earnings for the current fiscal.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Divisional Railway Manager Arun Jain said that the division had loaded 20.13 million tonnes of freight, mainly comprising iron ore, coal, hot rolled coil and fertilizer with an earning of Rs. 1,912 crore till October, which was 23.65 per cent more than the earnings during the corresponding period of previous fiscal. Mr. Jain said that during the same period, the division carried 2.26 crore passengers resulting in a revenue of Rs. 194 crore which was more than 9.76 per cent registered during the previous fiscal.

2 escalators at Hubballi Railway Station soon

Work on constructing escalators for passengers at the Hubballi Railway Station has been initiated and it will be commissioned in four-five months.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, South Western Railway Divisional Railway Manager Arun Jain said that the work had been assigned to Johnson Lifts Private Limited, Chennai.

Rail ID cards for the differently abled



A three-day drive will be organised from November 11 in seven key railway stations under the Thiruvananthapuram railway division to collect applications for identity cards for the differently abled to obtain concessions during train journeys. The card will enable the beneficiaries to book railway tickets online and at counters with concession. The drive will be organised at Nagercoil, Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kollam Junction, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam Junctionm and Thrissur railway stations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications may contact Deputy Station Manager (Commercial), Chief Reservation/Booking Supervisors or Chief Commercial Inspectors of these stations.

Applications should contain self-attested copies of certificate proving physical disability currently used for purchase of ticket (two copies), one copy each of photo ID proof, date of birth proof, address proof, two copies of passport size photographs, and telephone number for communication.

Railway robberies: armed guards at vulnerable points soon

Special police teams are investigating the robbery of series of trains near Guntakal, Guntakal Assistant Divisional Railway Manager V.V. Satyanarayana said on Saturday, adding that gangs from Maharashtra were believed to be behind such crime.

“In view of such incidents, top priority has been accorded to safety of passengers in the division,” he told the media. Steps were mooted to replace the level crossings by over and under bridges. Three railway gates between Chittoor and Tirupati would be removed in a phased manner, he said.

RPF steps up vigil for festival

In view of heavy movement of passengers ahead of the Deepavali festival, the Railway Protection Force has stepped up vigil to prevent theft of passenger belongings on board trains and platforms.

A security mechanism had been put in place to enhance surveillance on platforms and on board trains when they pass through Tiruchi railway division. In addition to train escort teams, a couple of teams have been deployed to check offences on board the trains especially theft of passenger belongings.

DMRC staff say their demand for salary restructuring has not been met

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has hit rough waters with its employees resorting to protests once again. The protesting non-executive employees of the corporation have now begun a hunger strike as they claim their demands for salary restructuring are going unheard by the administration.

As many as 3,600 employees, mainly technicians, are taking turns to protest at Jantar Mantar and at the seven metro depots. They are not ruling out train services being affected as 32 of those on hunger strike have already been hospitalized. Members of the staff council are likely to meet the administration on Monday to reach a common consensus.

Metro conducts safety audit of Jahangirpuri-Samaypur Badli stretch

After two cancellations, safety audit of the 4.49-km Jahangirpuri-Samaypur Badli stretch of the Delhi Metro has finally been conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). With this, the line could be open for public as early as the end of this month.

Although relatively small with just three stations, the stretch which is an extension of the Huda City Centre –Jahangirpuri (Yellow line) is bound to make commuting easier for lakhs of people residing in North Delhi areas like Jahangirpuri, Samaypur Badli, Transport Nagar, G.T. Karnal Road and parts of Rohini.

Railway Calls for Re-examination of Report on Suburban Service

BENGALURU:The project report presented by the public sector engineering consultancy Rail Indian Technical and Economic Service (RITES) on suburban rail service in Bengaluru needs to be re-examined due to some “fundamental defects”, feels the Railways.

A high-level meet to discuss the report was held on Friday evening between the Commissioner of Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) V Manjula and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Bengaluru Division, Sanjiv Agarwal, along with top officials of Railways and the State government.

4th Meeting of “Kayakalp” (Innovation Council of Indian Railways) held

In its 4th Meeting held in New Delhi today, the 6th November, 2015, under the Chairmanship of Shri Ratan Tata, “Kayakalp” (Innovation Council of Indian Railways) discussed safety issues and attempted to identify the causes for accidents on account of manual failures. 

The Council looked at approaches towards achieving greater hygiene and cleanliness on railway facilities such as stations.
