GOOD NEWS - Release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Pensioners

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to Pensioners w.e.f. 01.01.2016. This represents an increase of 6 percent over the existing rate of 119 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise.

32  WEEKLY FULLY RESERVED SUMMER SPECIAL TRAINS BETWEEN
CST – ERNAKULAM JUNCTION & CST – CHENNAI CENTRAL
Central Railway has decided to run 32 Weekly Fully Reserved SummerSpecial Trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai andErnakulam Junction / Chennai Central to clear the extra rush of passengers during summer season 2016.
The details are as under:
(A) Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus -  Ernakulam Junction Weekly  fully reserved specials (16)
Train No. 01065 Weekly  Summer Special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at 20.30 hrs o­n

Extension of Weekly Specials between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow/Kazipet, Nagpur-Amritsar/Pune. Bookings for extended services of 02107, 01093 (fully Reserved), 02125, 02124 and 02123 special trains on Special Charges are open from 26.3.2016..

Central Railway has decided to extend the run of following weekly special trains o­n the same timings & halts to clear the extra rush of passengers. The details are as under:
(A) Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow AC Superfast Weekly Specials(8)
02107 special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 14.20 hrs o­n every Saturday from 07.5.2016 to 28.5.2016 (4 trips) and arrive Lucknow at 13.45 hrs next day.
02108 special will leave Lucknow at 16.20 hrs o­n every Sunda

Indian Railways poised to switching over from 1500 Volt D.C. to 25000 Volt A.C. traction everywhere on its system.

The Last remaining sections of conversion from D.C. to A.C. successfully tested in Mumbai last week

The complete switch over would result in increased Suburban Services & Induction of new Rolling Stock with better Passenger Amenities, Reduction in Journey Time, and Operating Cost of the Railways.
To cater to the ever increasing traffic requirements in Mumbai area and for better reliability of suburban services, the work of conversion from 1500 Volt Direct Current(D.C.) to to 25000 Volt Alternating Current (A.C.) traction system was sanctioned over Central & Western Railways. This

Ministry of Railways Celebrates International Women’s Day, 2016

To celebrate International Womens’ Day and to honour Railway Women Employees, a function was held in Rail Bhwan Delhi today. Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu  was the chief guest at the function. Minister of State Shri Manoj Sinha  was specially present on the occasion. Chairman, Railway Board, Shri A.K. Mital, other Board Members were also present on the occasion.  The programme was followed by Demo of Self Defense by RSPF & ITBP

Ministry of Railways will like to clarify as under Regarding shifting of Wagon POH workshop from Kalahandi, Odisha to Vishakapatnam (Vadlapudi), Andhra Pradesh, Ministry of Railways will like to clarify as under: 

• Budget announcement was made in the year 2013-14 for setting up a Wagon Periodical Overhauling (POH) Workshop in Kalahandi, Odisha. 

f Railways23-March, 2016 16:29 IST Doubling of Kiul-Gaya Railway line

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for doubling of Kiul-Gaya Railway line of 124 km with a completion cost of Rs.1354.22 crore. 

Doubling of this line will greatly ease the ever increasing freight traffic between these sections. The project is likely to be completed by 2019-20. 

Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nawadah and Gaya districts of Bihar will be benefited through this project. 

Doubling of Ranchi (Hatia)-Bondamunda Railway line

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for doubling of the Ranchi (Hatia) Railway line of 158.5 km with a completion cost of Rs.1921.94 crore. The project is likely to be completed in the next six years during the 12th and 13th Plan period. 

Ministry of Railways Enhances Senior Citizen Quota

Ministry of Railways Undertakes Rationalization of Lump¬sum Rates for Merry¬go¬round (MGR) System
In terms of a Rail Budget Announcement 2016-17 by Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Following two services were  launced:-
1.      Enhanced Senior Citizen Quota
2.      Rationalization of Lumpsum freight rates for Merry-Go-Round (MGR)

These services were launched today i.e.23 march 2016 by Member Traffic  Railway Board Sh Mohd. Jamshed in  a programme held in Rail Bhawan today.
Following are details of services -

EARMARKING OF SENIOR CITIZEN QUOTA
Ø  This concept was introduced in 2007 vide Commercial Circular No. 40 of 2007 dated 18.04.2007.
Ø  A combined reservation quota of two lower berths per coach in Sleeper, AC­3 tier and AC­2 tier classes was earmarked for the following category of passengers when travelling alone :­
a)      Senior Citizens
b)     Female Passengers 45 years of age and above; and
c)      Pregnant women

Ø  In 2015, the existing quota of two lower berths per coach in Sleeper class was enhanced to four lower berths per coach. (Commercial Circular No. 15 of 2015 dated 13.03.2015) 

Ø  The condition of providing this quota only when travellingØ alone was relaxed vide Commercial Circular No. 51 of 2015 dated 31.08.2015 and now the facility of booking ticket under this quota is available even when in a single application two passengers are in combination of Senior Citizens/Female Passengers above the age of 45/Pregnant women. 
Ø  It has now been decided to enhance this quota to six lower berths per coach in Sleeper class and three lower berths per coach in 3AC and 2AC classes.
Ø  It has also been decided that in Rajdhani, Duronto andØ fully AC Express trains, this quota in 3AC class will be four lower berths per coach as against three lower berths per coach in case of normal Mail/Express trains.
  

 RATIONALIZATION OF LUMP­SUM RATES FOR MERRY­GO­ROUND (MGR) SYSTEM
PURPOSE: -
Ø  In order to provide an economical and reliable alternative short lead traffic, a revise scheme with rationalized lump­sum ratesfor Merry­-Go­-Round has been formulated. 
CONDITIONS : -
Ø  The MGR Terminals at both ends shall be privately owned.
