Temporary Augmentation of 8 Additional Coaches to Six More Trains to Meet Krishna Pushkaram Rush

To clear extra rush of pilgrims attending Krishna Pushakaram, South Central Railway will temporarily augment the following Six more Trains by attaching 8 additional Coaches from 9th to 31stAugust, 2016 as per the details mentioned below:-
1.Train No.12796/12795 Secunderabad-Vijayawada-Secunderabad Intercity Express will be augmented with two Chair Car Coaches from 9th to 25thAugust, 2016.

DISRUPTIONS OF SUBURBAN SERVICES DUE TO WATERLOGGING BECAUSE OF HEAVY RAINS Update at 12.30 hrs

  Suburban services o­n Up and Down slow line between Kurla and Sion were disrupted from 11.30 hrs to 12.05 hrs o­n 5.8.2016 due to waterlogging at  Sion due to heavy rains o­n Mumbai Suburbs.
           
            However services o­n Up and Down Fast o­n Main Line, Harbour Line and Trans-Harbour Line were running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule. 

20 AC SUPER FAST WEEKLY SPECIAL TRAINS BETWEEN LTT – SANTRAGACHI & PUNE - SANTRAGACHI

Introduction of New weekly Express train Between LTT- Kazipet and Daily Intercity Express train Between Gulbarga-Hyderabad.-Bookings open from 8.8.2016 and 7.8.2016 resp

Ministry of Railways have decided to introduce ‘Tadoba Express’ a new weekly express train between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Kazipet and a new Daily Intercity Express train between Gulbarga and Hyderabad for the benefit of passengers. The details of regular service of the train are as under :

GPS based Display Boards in Trains

Indian Railways have planned to install GPS based Passenger Information System (PIS) on important mail/express trains in about 300 rakes in a phased manner. At present, GPS based Passenger Information System is installed only in Gatiman Express.

Joint Venture Agreement signed between Ministry of Railways and Government of Chhattisgarh for “Formation of Joint Venture Companies”

Measures to Prevent Roof-Top Travelling On Trains

Following steps are being taken by Railways to prevent passengers travelling on roof-top of trains:- 

1. Frequent announcements through public address system at station are made to educate passengers not to travel on roof, footboard of the trains. 

Facilities For Poor People In General Bogies Of Trains

Passenger amenities such as Cushioned seats, luggage space/ racks, lights, fans, toilets and washbasins etc. are presently provided in General second class coaches for the passengers. Besides, mobile/laptop charging socket, dustbins and Braille signages are now being provided in all newly manufactured coaches and retrofitment on existing coaches is also being done in progressive manner.

Devices To Avoid Accidents At Unmanned Railway Level Crossings

Railway had developed Train Actuated Warning Device (TAWD) to warn road users about approaching trains at unmanned level crossing gates. However the equipment is not vandal and theft proof. As such its availability 24x7 at unmanned gate location could not be ensured, defeating the very purpose of its requirement.

Running Trains On Solar Power

Railways have provided solar panels on roof top of coaches for train lighting system in 18 narrow gauge coaches and 2 broad gauge non air conditioned coaches on trial basis. 

Railways have taken decision to provide solar panel on roof top of General coaches of two number of day running intercity trains and 50% Narrow gauge coaches plying on Pathankot- Joginder Nagar route in Kangra Valley section and Kalka- Shimla section for extended trials for one year in all weather conditions.

Executive Lounges at Railway Stations

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has commissioned an Executive Lounge offering value added services at New Delhi railway station (Ajmeri Gate side). Further, it has been decided to set up one more Executive Lounge at New Delhi railway station (Paharganj side).

Concession to Domestic Tourists in Luxury Trains

Concessions to domestic tourists on luxury tourist trains are offered by respective State Tourism Corporations / Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Presently, only IRCTC offers concession on its train Maharajas’ Express to domestic tourists by way of a discount of 50% to the second tourist sharing the cabin with a fully paid adult tourist, on select departures. Indian Railways - Non-Conventional Energy Sources

Indian Railways (IR) has started use of bio-diesel (5% blending with diesel) as an alternative to High Speed Diesel (HSD) for traction purposes since June, 2015 on trial basis. No special fund allotment for bio-diesel is contemplated since it is a part of fuel cost for which provision is already available in the budget. Expanding Public Services of IRCTC

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is an extended arm of Ministry of Railways set up to upgrade, professionalise and manage public interface services like online ticketing, catering and tourism.  Improvement and expansion of public services provided by IRCTC is an ongoing process and curative steps are taken regularly for increased passenger satisfaction in respect of these services based on the passenger feedback and availability of resources.

Integrated Security Plan For Railway Stations

An Integrated Security System (ISS) has been approved to strengthen surveillance mechanism at 202 railway stations over Indian Railways. ISS has been conceptualized as comprising of Close circuit television (CCTV) camera, access control, personal and baggage screening system and bomb detection and disposal System which together provide multiple checking of passengers and its baggage from the point of entry in the station premises till boarding of train. The anticipated cost of ISS project stands at ₹ 385.06 crore. 

Modernizing Railway Stations Through PPP Mode

Indian Railways has advertised its plan to redevelop ‘A-1’ and ‘A’ category stations on ‘as is where is’ basis, by inviting proposals from developers with their designs and business ideas. The entire cost of station redevelopment is to be met by leveraging commercial development of land and air space in and around the stations. The list of ‘A-1’ & ‘A’ category stations is appended. 

Suresh Prabhu Dedicates “Rail Geet” To The Nation

Sharing information on FDI

The Government has taken several effective measures, both by way of policy-level initiatives as well as through more effective enforcement action on the ground, to address the issue of black money, including entry of black money in the country from tax haven countries.
