भारतीय रेलवे जैसे एक व्यस्त नेटवर्क के लिए किसी समय – सारणी को तैयार करना बहुत ही चुनौतीपूर्ण कार्य है.

क्षेत्रीय रेलों पर योजना बनाने वाले स्वतंत्र रूप से कार्य करते है और फिर आल इंडिया समय सारणी विकसित – करने के लिए अन्य क्षेत्रीय रेले योजना बनाने वालो के सहयोग से कार्य करती है.

समय सारणी के मुख्य उद्देश्य यह है कि यात्रियों के लिए सुविधाजनक हो और सिस्टम में चलने के लिए उपयुक्त हो. नई गाड़ी सेवाएं प्रारंभ करना और पुरानी में वृध्दि करना एक कला है।भारतीय रेलवे में, योजना बनाने की प्रक्रिया को सुगम बनाने वालो का एक चुनिंदा ग्रुप है जो इस कार्य में बहुत कुशल होता है.

भारतीय रेलवे ने योजना बनाने की प्रक्रिया को सुगम बनाने के लिए सॉफ्टवेयर टूल प्रदान करने का विनिश्चय किया. सॉफ्टवेयर सहायता प्राप्त गाड़ी शडयुलिंग और नेटवर्क गबर्नेस (सत्संग) परियोजना को ऐसा टूल बनाने का कार्य सौपा गया है. सम्पूर्ण संसाधन आबंटन प्रक्रिया अब इस टूल व्दारा की जाएगी, जिससे और कुशल आबंटन होगा और समयसारणी को मजबूत बनाएगा.

The Software Aided Train Scheduling and Network Governance (SATSaNG) project is building a tool for efficient allocations and robust time tables.

The SATSaNG application is being developed in house, using Microsoft technologies like Microsoft Visual Studio C# for development, Microsoft Expression Blend for designing Interfaces, WPF framework for Rich Graphical Interface and MVVM for design patterns. Oracle 11G provides the backbone for the centralized database.

This application is being designed based on a three layered architecture. Terminal servers will be used to host application centrally. All the servers will reside in CRIS data centre in high availability mode.
