If you commute via train, then this news is for you. Chances are that you spend time on your mobile phone while waiting for a train on the platform. BEWARE! A shocking incident took place in Mumbai’s western suburb Borivali on January 16, 2019.

A family was waiting for a train to Surat at Borivali Railway Station when a thief snatched one of the family member’s mobile phone and ran away. On January 16, at around 10.15 PM both members of the family were at platform number 6-7 and were engrossed in surfing on their mobile phones.

A boy wearing black clothes came in front of them and snatched a mobile and jumped on the railway track in a bid to flee. One of the victims instinctively jumped on the railway track to catch the thief. However, he did not realise that a local train was coming from Dahisar to Borivali on the same track.

The victim jumped on track and at the same time, the train approached the station. The victim was hit by the locomotive and suffered several injuries. The thief managed to escape because no one else came to help the family till the local train left. The injured person was hospitalised in Kandivali hospital for treatment.

Acting swiftly and with the help of CCTV footage, Borivali Railway Police arrested the accused and one of his associates. The accused are named as Arshad Sheikh and Pravesh Sheikh and both are residents of Mira Road.
