BOLPUR-SHANTINIKETAN STATION REDEVELOPMENT UNDER AMRIT BHARAT SCHEME: WORK IN PROGRESS AT HIGH SPEED

Eastern Railway is thrilled to announce the rapid progress of the Bolpur – Shantiniketan Station Redevelopment project under the prestigious Amrit Bharat Scheme. This initiative signifies commitment of this zone in enhancing the infrastructure and services at one of West Bengal’s iconic railway stations.

This vision to modernize and revitalize Bolpur – Shantiniketan station, Railways is making substantial strides in its mission with continuous and untiring efforts of Eastern Railway inter-departmental team right from the launch of Amrit Bharat scheme by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on August 6, 2023.

The project aims to transform Bolpur – Shantiniketan Station into a world-class transportation hub with state-of-the-art amenities. Efforts are underway to enhance accessibility for passengers, including ramps, elevators, and escalators. The resurfacing work of Bolpur – Shantiniketan platforms are on full swing. This crucial improvement will make boarding and disembarking from trains more accessible, especially for elderly and differently-abled passengers. Tiled surfaces provide better traction, reducing the risk of slip and fall accidents, especially during adverse weather conditions. Tiles used are known for their durability and longevity, making them resistant to wear and tear from heavy foot traffic and environmental factors. Tiled surfaces are less porous than concrete or asphalt, making it easier to clean and sanitize, contributing to improved hygiene.

The station’s aesthetic appeal will receive a facelift with pleasing design elements and landscaping. The work progression of new parking facility will have an increased capacity to accommodate a higher number of vehicles. Emphasis has been placed on making the parking area more accessible to individuals with disabilities. Commuters can expect a more convenient experience with well-maintained pedestrian pathways, sheltered waiting areas, and easy access to ticket counters. This redevelopment project aligns with our commitment to providing a seamless and comfortable journey for all travellers passing through Bolpur railway station. It is expected to ease congestion, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall station experience. The redevelopment project will breathe life at a cost of Rs. 21.1 Crore.
